Welcome to St. Ann's Computer Lab Homepage. My name is Michael Clark. This is my 26th year of teaching. I have been here at St. Ann's as a part time technology integration specialist for four and one-half years. They call me the "computer teacher". Prior to this, I taught at St. james in Dogtown and before that I lived in Chicago where I taught, 4th, 5th, 7th and 8th grade, in the inner city, at St. Callistus Catholic School on the west side. My family and I moved to St. Louis in 2001. Instead of jumping right back into a traditional classroom, I created an adventure learning program which utilizes a virtual schoolhouse on the web and ties the curriculum to live exploratory expeditions. The first expedition was a complete navigation of the Mississippi River by canoe. Over 5,000 students participated as virtual explorers. The next year, I paddled the length of the Missouri River in a dugout canoe and again delivered the expedition to schools around the world via a satellite connection to the web. In each successive year, I have produced and implemented a live adventure learning expedition. The past four years have been especially good since the students at St. Ann's are the main participants. When I am not on the river exploring and professionally guiding, i am busy helping the teachers and students at St. Ann's to develop their technology skills. Our goal at St. Ann's is to fully integrate the technology tools available into the learning process. You can check out some of our work on our very own wikispace here. Please contact me if you have questions, suggestions, or concerns. |
